In the heart of the East Kingdom 50th celebration, you will find the
plot of land known as the Town Center. Here are some of the reasons to
leave your camp and come on over.
– Hang out with friends at THE HEARTH during the afternoons and
evenings. On Friday night, take part in an East Kingdom Trivia
competition complete with an MC and prizes.
– At POPULACE POINT, stop to listen to panels with East Kingdom notables
and get your questions answered about East Kingdom history (did that
really happen?); learn how to do things (autocratting, scribal, many
more); and quiz officers (what does that rule really mean????)
– Stop by the GAMES TENT to try a period game or watch the schedule for
outbreaks of more ATHELTIC GAMES like hurling on our list field.
– Speaking of the LIST FIELD, we expect to offer for your spectating
pleasure a pas d’armes, rapier tourney, youth boffer and/or rapier, hit
a knight (for kids only), and other activities.
– If you like to ENTERTAIN or be entertained, space will be set aside
for buskers during the day (more on how to reserve your spot). Saturday
night our firepit will host a storytime for younger folks.
– For those inclined toward A&S, we will host some of the A&S teaching
areas plus be providing space for people to pull up some shade and just
hang out doing art with other like minded people.
And on Sunday night after the official activities have closed down and
you’re ready to pull out on Monday morning, join us for a PARTY in the
Town Center to celebrate 50 years of the East Kingdom. Think of it like
a big post-revel except we’re all still at the event. Alternatively,
think of it as the Blue Sparkly Tyger Rave. Okay, maybe not quite – but
we are considering blue fire for the fire pit.
The Town Center will be a place to meet old friends and new, try
something fun, and help create a vision for the next fifty years. There
will be a hearth, with tables and benches where you can talk or watch
the entertainers and activities happening on the green. It will be our
showcase of all the great things the East has to offer (and then some).
Plan to stay through Sunday night, to join the party celebrating the
BIO Mistress Catrin o’r Rhyd For is technically in charge of the Town Center area. In reality, she is just one small cog in the planning machine (committee) that includes Duchess Þóra Eiriksdottir, Mistress Cassandra Grey, Mistress Aildreda de Tamwurthe, Maistre Lucien de Pontivy, Mistress Lucie Lovegood, Countess Svava Thorgeirsdottir, Lady Wunderin, and Lady Agnes Godolphin.
